I was in a movie. Well, I should say a “student film.” After a year of pursuing a career in selling my art or my acting ability, I found myself cast in the student film “The Broken Table.” I’ll be retiring from this endeavor as I gave myself only one year to try this out. It has now been a year and even though I secured a manager and an agent — neither who seemed willing to help my career. I put my head-shot out to many casting agents, went to cattle-calls, spent almost every week going to acting class, and busted my ass. I had a few little community art shows, and I had a few local shops willing to put up my art in their stores.
When I was in a movie, sorry “student film” I was so very grateful for the experience. This experience was a lot of fun, and I will always be thankful to Richard Par for choosing me to be Adam. I also hope Elizabeth Fujimaki found her way to some significant roles. It was an interesting take on a man in the friend-zone who did not like how the object of his desire was ignoring him.
It was October 2011 that I moved to Hollywood after I finished my Associate’s Degree at Mt. SAC. I took a break from my college degree to pursue a year, breaking into the art market. While trying to sell my art, I also began taking acting classes and doing what I could do to break into the acting scene. During this year in Hollywood, I met so many great people, partied with so many notable characters, and I even got an agent. Before leaving Hollywood, I did try out for the character of Adam in this student film and was so very stoked when I was the final pick for the role.
Even though I did not make it as an actor, I am still making art and selling my art.
EDIT:
So, it looks like the writer/director has a Kickstarter and wants to redo it with more of a story than the 4-minute short we did at the time. I also noticed the video was taken down from YouTube, and I don’t want to get into any copyright issues so I won’t post my copy.
