Illuminare 07/2011
I was an artist at the RAW Showcase Illuminare, July 21, 2011. It took place at the Avec Nightclub in Huntington Beach. You can see plenty of footage on YouTube from the event, including an intro to me, Sean Carter as a Raw Artist. It was a great event with a lot of talented artists.

Last week was the Illuminare Art Show in Orange County. It was a success in many ways. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I wish I had a bigger fan base than my brother and wife, of course – so I could afford to do more of these types of shows. In fact another organization saw my work there that night and contacted me the next day to participate in their art show. Alas, I really can’t afford to pay for the opportunity and the only bad thing I had with this last show is the “pay to play” model might not work for people like me who tend to have flaky friends..
Sorry, didn’t mean to vent – and I am not saying this to upset anyone. I understand people have lives and responsibilities and what not, so we’ll let that go at that point.
Otherwise it was great. My work seemed to be well received according to discussions I had and things my wife overheard. Everyone really enjoyed my concept of bringing in a stack of sketchbooks, which gave them the opportunity to review my work over the decades I’ve been drawing… ouch. I never used the word decades in reference to my life till now. But I have been drawing for over 3 decades.. that’s scary.
Well, I will keep you all up to date for the next art show I participate in and hopefully you will be able to come down and enjoy some great art and discussion. As soon as they post images on Flickr and what not, I’ll let you all know.
