RGD | Existential_Bananas

I really liked this photo posted by Existential_Bananas and chose it to be this week’s RGD pick. I really don’t like it when parts of the head are cropped off, but in this case, I was able to assume how it looked. I realized later that maybe I should not have done the bangs, but that was fine. I loved the full lips, big eyes, and the bulbous nose — these are some features I am always looking at. The 3/4 angle also spoke to me as it often does. She doesn’t have the long and curly type of hair I generally gravitate to, but I did overemphasize the ends anyways.

When it came to the colored version I wanted to try a few things. I played a lot with the texture brushes especially with the skin and hair — I know I made the final a bit darker than the original, but that’s what artistic license is for. I added the bokeh effect to just try something new. I really think I might do more like that when it comes to the background.

This portrait was drawn in ink, scanned, and then digitally manipulated and colored to create the final artwork that I felt worked best to submit back to Reddit Gets Drawn for the pleasure of the poster who submitted their photo. I love to draw and the best thing about this is that I choose which photos to draw, however, I have received many requests from people for me to do their commissioned portraits. I have many options available if you would like to be drawn — please check out my Merchandise Shop if you would like to see the options for Commissioned Portrait Drawings, such as my ink portraits, graphite portraits, animal portraits, or even quick artistic graphite portraits.

If you would also like to purchase a print of my artwork as a poster, canvas print, or on a phone case you can also see those in the Merchandise Shop — I have also recently begun making Skateboard Deck Designs, but those can only be currently purchased via Threadless.com.

This portrait is also in the Art Portfolio — both the Ink Version and the Digitally Colored Version. Be sure to also check out the three Instagram posts – WIP Photo, WIP Scan, and the Final Version
